Tempa & Naor Project

Naor Nave is an Israeli-born guitarist, composer, and songwriter known for his evocative and soulful musical style. Growing up in Kibbutz Ein Harod Ehud, Naor’s childhood was rich with the community values and diverse experiences that shaped his creative outlook. His father’s nightly guitar playing sparked his passion for music, and by age 12, he was already composing his own songs.

Encouraged by his family, Naor explored various musical avenues, from classical guitar to opera, refining his skills in the kibbutz’s music room. His mother, a special education teacher, supported his learning despite his struggles with dyslexia, instilling in him the resilience and creativity that now define his artistry.

After completing his military service, Naor volunteered with at-risk youth, using music to foster community and healing. His dedication led him to work as a song leader in the U.S., where he inspired young people through music and education. It was during this time that Naor met Tempa in Colorado in 2007, and their musical and personal connection was immediate. He joined Tempa and the Tantrums as a rhythm guitarist from 2009 to 2011, contributing to their dynamic sound.

In 2012, Naor and Tempa relocated to Maui, where they founded Soul Kitchen Maui, an 11-piece Zydeco-Soul band. Their high-energy performances quickly made them a staple in the local music scene, earning them MauiTime’s “Best of Maui 2017’s Best Band.” The band’s debut album, Live At Charley’s (2019), showcases Naor’s versatility and leadership in creating a vibrant, cohesive sound.

Beyond Soul Kitchen, Naor and Tempa have established themselves as a powerful duo, blending SoulFolk, Americana, and Blues into their unique “Music Medicine.” Their debut album, Embers Fire (2018), and singles like “Burn The Page” and “Home” highlight Naor’s innovative compositions paired with Tempa’s profound lyrics. Their upcoming album, MoonFall, promises to delve even deeper into themes of transformation and resilience.

Naor’s musical journey is not just about performance but about using music as a tool for connection and healing. His work reflects a deep understanding of human emotion, shaped by his diverse experiences and commitment to creating music that resonates on a profound level.
